Joe has been the President of the Middle Peninsula Insurance and Financial Services, Inc. since 1994. He has lived in Williamsburg since 1987, where he began his career at SunTrust Bank as a private banking lending officer.

Joe is the past chairman of Hospice Support Care of Williamsburg. He sits on the board of the Williamsburg Land Conservancy. He also serves on the board of Virginia Company Bank. He serves on the James City County Educational Foundation as well. He is the past chairman of the following insurance company agent council advisory boards, Selective Insurance Company, Northern Neck Insurance Company, and Donegal Insurance Company. Joe has been very active in coaching girls and boys youth baseball and basketball and in teaching Sunday School in the Williamsburg area for many years. Of special note, Joe spoke on Wall Street at the annual investor conference for Selective Insurance Company in 2006. Joe is 1986 graduate of Randolph-Macon College and a 1994 Graduate of the Leadership Historic Triangle.

Bill worked in the financial services industry for 12 years before joining Middle Peninsula Insurance in 1994 as Financial Services Director.  He has earned his Chartered Financial Consultant designation and is a Certified Long Term Care Consultant.

Bill moved to Williamsburg in 1993 and is an active member of the community, serving on the Men’s Charity Tennis, Inc. Board, was past president of the local homeowners association, is a deacon in his church, and coaches youth athletics. Bill also was a featured speaker for the Financial Institutions Insurance Association.

Bill graduated from the University of Richmond in 1981. He is an avid runner, participating in marathons. He lives in Williamsburg with his wife Sonya, and two daughters.

Steve Morewitz joined the Middle Peninsula team in October 2010 after five years as an agency owner with State Farm. Prior to that, he worked as a golf professional and managed a resort golf facility in the Phoenix, Arizona area.

He and his wife Laney, along with their two children reside in Steve’s hometown of Newport News. When not helping his clients with their insurance needs, Steve can be found spending time with his family or enjoying a round of golf.

Matt  joined MPIA in January of 2008 after working for Nationwide Insurance for 3 years. He specializes in property and casualty insurance.  Matt is a 26-year resident of Williamsburg and a graduate of Lafayette High School and UNC-Greensboro.

When he is not working, Matt devotes time to community organizations, such as the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Alliance. He is a 2011 graduate of the Leadership Historic Triangle class, a program which provides the foundation necessary to develop effective leaders within the community. He also enjoys about any outdoor activity, from baseball to boating to racing.

Laureen joined Middle Peninsula in 2011. She brings to the agency over 30 years of experience handling commercial lines insurance. During her career, she has held positions as an Account Manager, Environmental Insurance Broker, and Agency Manager and has handled a wide variety of commercial clients.

Laureen resides in Seaford with her husband Bill and their two “young adult” children. She enjoys spending her spare time with friends and family, herb gardening, and gourmet cooking.

Beckie joined Middle Peninsula in 2009. Her prior experience includes 20 years as a client advisor with a premier global risk management and insurance broking firm in both their Seattle, Washington and Washington, DC offices. Her clients have included major manufacturing firms, consulting firms, government contractors and not for profit organizations.Beckie and her husband reside quietly in New Kent County.

Hope joined the Middle Peninsula team in June of 2010, as a Customer Service Representative in our Commercial Lines Division. Previously Hope was working in the construction field for 5 years where she specialized in customer care.

Hope has two children, enjoys the outdoors and resides in Gloucester Point.

Jennifer has been with Middle Peninsula Insurance since 2002. She has been a licensed insurance professional since 1985 and works with our personal lines customers. Jennifer is a native of Virginia. She enjoys camping and fishing.

Jill joined Middle Peninsula in 2008 after working for State Farm for 14 years. She has 27 years experience working in the insurance industry, beginning her career at an independent insurance agency in San Jose, California. She lives in Williamsburg with her husband and sister, along with their PBGV show dogs, one Whippet, one Westie, a mutt named Smudge, and four cats who love to torment the dogs.

Kim joined Middle Peninsula in July of 2010. She has 7 years experience as an administrative assistant. Kim is a native of Virginia and moved to Gloucester in 2009 with her husband and their 4 children.

Jennifer is a licensed life and health agent who has been with MPIA since November, 2004. Jennifer is a native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was married in March of 2008. She enjoys various sports, reading and teaching CCD at her church.

Ken has been with Middle Peninsula since 2004. Prior to joining the firm, Ken was a banker in the Williamsburg area for over 25 years. He now specializes in serving the owners of higher valued homes and small- to mid-sized businesses. Ken has lived in Williamsburg for more than 40 years and is a graduate of Lafayette High School and Hampden-Sydney College. Ken is married with two children. Ken’s wife Mary is a native of Williamsburg and is currently a second-grade teacher at Walsingham Academy. You can see Ken performing locally with his fife and drum corps, Williamsburg Field Musick Fifes & Drums.

Linda has been in the insurance business since 1985. She specializes in homeowners, auto, flood and personal umbrella policies. Linda has been a resident of Middlesex County all of her life and enjoys working for her friends and neighbors as well as meeting and helping new people to our area.

Claudia joined Middle Peninsula in August of 2011.  She has 21 years of experience working in the insurance industry.  She and her family recently moved to Mathews County where they enjoy living on the water.

Janet has been in the insurance industry since 1980 having experience in both commercial and personal lines. Janet enjoys the personal lines department, has earned her INS designation and continues to further her insurance education. Janet is a native of Gloucester, married with five children and four grand-children and is a Dallas Cowboys die-hard fan.

Lucas Smith joined Middle Peninsula in April of 2010 to help build new relationships with area organizations and individuals. Before joining Middle Peninsula Lucas worked for more than three years as a mortgage originator.

Lucas is a long-time resident of Gloucester County and a graduate of Christopher Newport University. When he is not hard at work, he enjoys boating and racing.

Frank Bowman recently joined Middle Peninsula in July of 2011. He brings 30 years of experience in the insurance business with him to the Gloucester team.

Frank is a 27 year resident of Gloucester, and his wife, Linda, owns an antique shop at Gloucester Point. They have two grown children. Frank is active in his church, having served as a deacon and currently serving on the stewardship education committee. In his remaining free time, he enjoys fishing and vegetable gardening.
